HAIKU POETRY

UPDATING FOR THE TEACHERS - A FULL IMMERSION SUNDAY AT CASCINA MACONDO

GOALS

Committing with Haiku means having a careful glance at the world.

It implies getting free of the superstructures, of the vain and pointless words.

It pushes ourselves in "looking" and above all in "grasping" the entity of a happening we are witnesses of, the substance of an experience, the core of an emotion.

It's a poetry rich of simplicity, control, depth, concentration, essentiality, beauty. It's a high school of life and thinking.

Practising Haiku in the schools is a valid way to eliminate language and cultural hedges in the classes, to arrive to a good group's homogeneity, to implement actions of co-operation and solidarity, to support self-esteem in dyslexic children or in people coming across difficulties during learning.

How to teach Haiku to children? The path is aimed to teachers and shows several strategies.

METHODOLOGY

The practical exercising allows the analyse of the syllables, the division into syllables of the Italian words, the principal metric cases (crase, ANASINALEFE, EPISINALEFE), words with accent on the last syllable, words with tonic accent on the penult syllable, words with accent on the antepenult syllable, words with accent on the fourth-last syllable. The TRONCHEO, GIAMBICO, DATTILO and MOLOSSO (exercises with drum and percussions) rhythm.

Formal structure of the Haiku - relatives of the Haiku - Kigo, The Small Kigo, Kigo Misuralis, Kigo Tèmporis - the four main feelings (Sabi, Wabi, Aware, Jugen) - the semantic rollover - the semantic pregnancy - reading at loud voice of the Haiku - the rendering - examples of Haiku - students writing Haiku - collective analyse and refinement of the prepared Haiku.
